Dental Implants
An implant replaces extracted tooth roots. During an implant, these tooth roots are replaced by metal posts that resemble screws. Damaged or missing teeth are replaced with prosthetic teeth that closely resemble genuine teeth in both appearance and function. Dental implant systems are made up of an implant body, an abutment, and, in some cases, an abutment fixation screw. In lieu of the tooth’s root, the dental implant body is surgically placed in the jawbone. The dental implant abutment often extends through the gums into the mouth to support the connected artificial teeth after being fixed to the implant body with an abutment fixation screw. A patient’s health and quality of life can be greatly enhanced by using a dental implant to replace a missing tooth.
Advantages:
- restores the capacity to chew.
- keeps surrounding teeth stable.
- Restores cosmetic appearance.
- keeps the jawbone from shrinking due to bone loss.
- Preserves the health of the surrounding bone and gums.
- Improves quality of life.
Why may I need an implant?
Implants are needed when a patient (who does not want/cannot get crowns, bridges, or dentures) has several missing teeth.
Implant-Supported Dentures
Implant-supported dentures are a type of oral appliance that replaces numerous teeth at once. Unlike a conventional denture (which sit atop your gums), implant-supported dentures are secured to your jawbone by using dental implants. The roots of lost teeth are replaced by dental implants, which are little threaded posts. Dentures that are supported by implants provide better stability for speaking, chewing, and eating.
Advantages:
- Don’t slide around as regular dentures can.
- Halt bone loss by doing this by stimulating the jaw’s nerves and imitating the roots of your natural teeth.
- Resemble healthy teeth.
- Restore Cosmetics.
- Restore function.
- Restore the health of your mouth.
- More durable than conventional denture.
Why may I need an implant supported denture?
If you have several missing teeth and wish for a device sturdier than conventional dentures, implant supported dentures may be the right solution for you.
